Peterborough & the Kawarthas Economic Development (PKED), representing 8 municipalities in Ontario, wanted to develop a wayfinding signage “toolkit”: a set of strategies, guidelines, and sign designs its municipalities could use to sign tourism destinations. It also sought strategies to restrict “bush-country signage”, permitted but casual off-premises signage allowed on certain highways in the county. Over several months, we worked with PKED to design a system that fit the context of place, as well as build a consensus with its member municipalities on wayfinding in the region—to get all the players in the same game.

Currently we continue to work in the Peterborough region, developing new sign types and programming sign locations and messages for PKED.
